Test Script Scheduler-make Testing Easier
Since testing is one of the important component of software development process as it ensure that the final software will be error free and works as per the requirements of the organisation or client.
Testing not only test for bugs and faults but it also test other things like performance, security provided by the application, load bearing capacity and other testings. Different application requires different types of testing. Test case are designed which are used to test the application under development and it is very time consuming to manually test each and every test case as there can be thousands of such test cases for a average application. There comes the need of test scripts and test script schedulers. A test script is set of commands or computer instructions which are used to do testing for the required application. Testing or execution of these test scripts can be done manually or automated. Let us find about two methods as under:
Manual running test scripts: This is simple method in which all the test scripts are run by a tester itself and then behaviour of the system is noticed so as to get the necessary information how system behave at different situations. Such a testing is suitable for that system where numbers of test cases are small or where application is user driven ie user needs to interact with the application. In case of user intensive application it is always safe to do manual testing as it ensures that system do not hang up when user provide any irrelevant inputs and appropriate error messages are shown.
Automated running of test scripts: This is another method which is mostly used by big software manufacturing companies as they develop very complex application with thousands of test cases. So it is very time consuming to do manual testing for such applications and only way is to go for automated testing. A number of automated testing tools are available in the market. Some of them are as: HP Quick Test, Borland Silk test, Rational Rose and others. Most of these scripts are written in C++, python, Perl, PHP, Java, Ruby.
The major advantage of automated testing is that tests scripts can be executed continuously without any manual intervention. Another advantage of automated testing over manual one is that is easily to repeat the test c

ases again and again; this means it is very suitable for regression testing. Regarding the disadvantages of automated testing, such a testing is not suitable for testing the applications which requires lot of user interactivity and if the test scripts are poorly written then some of the bugs may not be detected during the testing.
Test script schedulers are used in case of automated testing. Script schedulers are special programs; which schedules execution of scripts and executes them. Scheduler makes the life of tester easier and does all the tasks which otherwise a tester has to do. But never over depend on such schedulers as they cannot match the human testing capabilities and they can only be used in cases where there is minimal user interaction and software runs on its own.
